Good Afternoon:

I am pleased to announce that Pike Industries, Inc. has acquired the assets of Bruce A. Manzer, Inc. and North Country Concrete, LLC, an integrated asphalt, aggregate, ready mix concrete and paving business headquartered in Farmington, Maine.  Manzer’s operations consists of two asphalt plants, two sand & gravel pits, a portable crusher, a ready mix concrete plant, two paving crews and two grading crews.  The company employs approximately forty people across the business, which focuses on key markets throughout Somerset, Franklin, and Oxford counties in Western Maine.

Pike’s acquisition of Manzer’s facilities will enable Pike to expand its operations into the rural northwestern area of Maine.  This region is expected to experience continuing growth fueled by the development of outdoor recreation areas, including several major ski resorts.  In addition, the acquisition complements Pike’s existing operations in Maine because it provides Pike with permanent plants in markets where Pike was previously forced to compete with uneconomical portable plants.

The acquisition represents an opportunity to build upon Pike’s success in Maine by acquiring Manzer’s experienced management, strong relationships with the Maine DOT, and unique geographic footprint within the region. I am excited to welcome the Team to Pike, Americas Materials, and CRH, and am confident that the addition further enhances our ability to serve customers in this important market.
